Girl Kicks, Screams Her Way Out of Kidnapping Attempt, Arcadia Police Say

The attempted abduction happened at a park in the afternoon, police said.

A 6-year-old girl kicked and screamed her way out of a kidnapping attempt at an Arcadia park on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The girl was playing in a picnic area at Arcadia County Park before 3 p.m. when the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Jason Macklin Bell, grabbed her and attempted to drag her away, police said.

Bell tried to flee when the girl started to fight him off, but he didn’t get far, police said. He was arrested a short distance away.

Bell, who investigators said is a transient, was expected to face kidnapping and child annoyance charges. His bail was set at $400,000.
