Roadway upgrades will prompt overnight closures of the northbound 5 Freeway in the Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs areas beginning this weekend.
The northbound 5 Freeway will be closed between Beach Boulevard and Valley View Avenue from 11 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday, and from 11 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday, Caltrans reported.
Each night at 10 p.m., crews will begin the process of reducing lanes at the work site. Crews will be removing K-rails and restriping the roads.
Also, the connectors from the Artesia (91) Freeway to the northbound 5 Freeway will be closed each night beginning at 9 p.m., and will re-open the following morning at 4 a.m.
And on-ramps to the northbound 5 Freeway in the area also will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. while work is conducted.
If necessary, the same overnight closures will take place on Tuesday night to Wednesday morning. Detour signs will be in place
