Two Girls, 6 and 8, Among Four Struck in Shooting at Crowded Compton House Party

Two girls and two men were wounded in a drive-by shooting at a child's party that lasted into Sunday morning in Compton, authorities said.

All four of the shooting victims were in stable condition in local hospitals, including one girl who underwent surgery after she was shot in the upper torso, according to a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Deputies believed the shooting was unprovoked but were still looking for the shooter or shooters who hit the girls, 6 and 8 years old, and the two men in their 20s.

At least 30 people were at the home where the shooting was reported, just before 12:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Alondra Boulevard, but it was not immediately clear what led to the shooting, according to a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman.

A neighbor described the scene as chaotic.

A bounce house was present at the residence Sunday morning as detectives continued investigating the scene and interviewing attendees. Deputies confirmed that the party was held for children but lasted later into the night.

Police said the victims were in stable condition.
