Two people died Monday when their SUV plunged 100 feet off of Interstate Highway 280 outside of Burlingame, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 5:21 p.m. on northbound Highway 280 near Trousdale Drive.
Two occupants in the white SUV were trapped when the vehicle flew through a guard rail and down a 100-foot drop, police said. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third passenger was transported to a hospital and their condition is unknown.
The CHP is investigating what caused the crash.
