Carnival is shipping out of the port of San Diego for good, according to a published report.
The industry giant will be relocating their last San Diego based cruise ship, the Carnival Spirit, to Australia in 2012, USA Today reported.
A spokesperson for Carnival told the paper they don't have plans to replace the ship but will consider basing another one in San Diego in the future depending on market conditions.
It has been a challenging time for San Diego's cruise ship business. Last year, Carnival Cruise Lines discontinued its year-round ship to Mexico's Baja California coast, significantly cutting into traffic.
