Singer Usher Showing Wife The Door

Rocky two-year marriage ends in a split

Usher and wife Tameka Foster are splitting after a two-year marriage that started off on the wrong foot.

Wed in August 2007, the Grammy-winning 'Confessions' singer, 30, and stylist Foster, 38, have been on the outs and living apart for the past year, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Divorce papers were filed in Atlanta on Thursday morning.

The couple's marriage also had a bumpy start. The wedding was abruptly canceled, partly because Usher's mom disapproved of the union and partly because the bride and groom couldn't agree on the event's arrangement and details. On the Saturday that the event was to take place in music mogul L.A. Reid's Southampton home, the publicist for the R&B star released a statement calling off the ceremony entirely.

Back in February, Foster suffered a heart attack during an aborted liposuction procedure and Usher rushed to Brazil to be at her bedside. But for months now, rumors have been circulating that the young couple’s relationship was on the rocks.

The couple has two sons, 18-month-old Usher Raymond V, and 6-month-old Naviyd. Foster has three more children from her previous marriage to Noontime Music co-founder Ryan Glover.

"Usher's primary concern is for his children," a source close to the couple told the New York Daily News. "He is a great father and just wants to do what is right for them."

There has been no official word from either party.
