Suspect in USC Hit-and-Run Crash Arrested at Border

Earlier this month, Adrianna Bachan's mother told the media, "Nobody kills my daughter and gets away with it."

It now appears she may be right.

The final suspect in the March 29 crash, which killed the 18-year-old USC student, was arrested Friday at the San Ysidro border crossing at about 5:30 p.m. Friday while attempting to cross into the U.S. from Mexico, police said.

Josue Luna, 32, was taken from San Diego to Los Angeles and booked as a suspected accessory to the crime.

Luna posted a $50,000 bail at noon Saturday to secure release from the LAPD 77th Street Station. Police did not announce the arrest until after Luna posted bail.

Luna's wife, 30-year-old Claudia Cabrera, was allegedly driving the car that struck Bachan and Marcus Garfinkle, who suffered broken legs and other injuries.

Police said they believe Luna was a passenger in the car and pulled Garfinkle, 19, off the hood so the duo could escape.

Cabrera has pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. She remains in jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Authorities said the couple's 7-month-old infant also was in the car.

About $235,000 in award money was offered in the case, which gained major attention after emotional pleas for justice from family members and USC students.

"I really want to thank the press for keeping this story alive. This is the way I mourn. I'm mourning my daughter with action. I knew that we were going to get them ... we finally got one of them," Bachan's mother, Carmen, said after Cabrera's arrest.

Anyone with more information on the hit-and-run was asked to contact LAPD detectives at 323-290-6070 or 213-485-7336.
