Whether during the day or at night, there is always something to do in Balboa Park in the heart of San Diego. Here's a look at our list of things to do in the month of November.
Nov. 10 – Inside the San Diego Natural History Museum, The Ordover Gallery will feature photography by National Geographic’s distinguished photographer Flip Nicklin. The exhibition includes photographs of whales from throughout the world as featured in his new book “Among the Giants” published this year. The museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mingei International Museum
Nov. 11 – If you’ve got Veterans Day off, take advantage of the holiday and check out Japan’s Beckoning Cats at the Mingei International Museum. Hours are Tuesday – Sunday 10 a.m. to 5p.m. Get more information here.
Balboa Park Beat
Nov. 12 – Enjoy birthday cake and lemonade in honor of Kate Sessions’ Birthday. The first 50 guests will receive a free Floral Association tote bag with goodies. Get more information here.

Nov. 13 – A Ranger-led tour begins at 11 a.m. in front of the Visitor Information Center in the Park’s House of Hospitality. Park Rangers discuss the historical and botanical treasures of Balboa Park on the one-hour walk.
Nov. 14 - Head to Balboa Park after school so your child can enter the Kid’s-Eye View of the Park photo contest. Prizes include an HP Photosmart Printer, a week-long Summer Camp at the Museum of Photographic Arts, a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Museum of Photographic Arts, a Family 4-Pack to the Zoo’s Safari Park, tickets to other major park attractions, gift certificates, and more. Nov. 15 – Residents free Tuesday includes San Diego Art Institute, Mingei International Museum, San Diego Museum of Art, The San Diego Museum of Man, Japanese Friendship Garden. Residents of San Diego city and county are eligible for free admission along with active military and their dependents.

Nov. 19 – Get a ticket to one of the first performances of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas appearing at The Old Globe. Get more information here.

Nov. 20 - Take a cup of coffee or a snack to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion at 2 p.m. Sunday for this week’s free organ concert with Dr. Carol Williams.
