Young Thug, Machine Gun Kelly Plot Joint Tour

The two chart-topping rap artists bring their upcoming joint tour through San Diego this fall

It may feel like summer but folks, we're definitely in 'slime season': On Wednesday, July 24, Young Thug and Machine Gun Kelly announced a joint national tour that stops at SDSU's Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. PST. A pre-sale also begins on on Thursday, July 25, at 10 a.m. Visit for more information. Killy, Polo G, YBN Nahmir and others have been announced as openers for the tour.

The two chart-topping rap artists have been busy making headlines recently. Young Thug -- who won a Grammy Award last year for his work on Childish Gambino's hit single "This Is America" and hit No. 1 with Camila Cabello's "Havana" -- is fresh off of hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 100 chart with last week's Post Malone collaboration "Goodbyes" and the recent release of a remix version of Lil Nas X's record-breaking single "Old Town Road" (with Mason Ramsey and Billy Ray Cyrus).

In May, the rap artist -- known for his eccentric vocal style and fashion sense -- dropped "The London," a collaborative single with J. Cole and Travis Scott in advance of his upcoming album "Gold Mouf Dog." The last time Young Thug was in town, he performed at Viejas Arena as part of J. Cole's 2018 tour.

Machine Gun Kelly (often abbreviated as MGK) has also been in the news: The Cleveland rapper, who rose to fame in 2012 with his debut major label debut album "Lace Up," released a collaboration with Yungblud and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker titled "I Think I’m Okay" in June -- which will be featured on his forthcoming studio album "Hotel Diablo."

Coincidentally, MGK also had a huge hit with Camila Cabello ("Bad Things" in 2017, which hit No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart). Music ain't his only gig either -- he's also an accomplished actor, appearing in films such as "Beyond the Lights," "Bird Box," "The Dirt" and others. Area fans last saw him in town at the 2017 Kaaboo Del Mar music festival.
