Get ready to say hello to your future Grammy Award winners and music industry movers and shakers. This summer, five San Diego County residents have the honor of joining the Grammy Museum's Grammy Camp program.

On July 17-21, the following aspiring music industry leaders will join over 80 other high school students from 66 cities and 21 states for the 14th iteration of the summer camp:

  • Anthony Cullins of Fallbrook will be attending for music business
  • Sadie Duca of Carlsbad will be attending for songwriting
  • Ashley Nicole Greene of Oceanside will be attending for songwriting
  • Nicolas Meringolo of Carlsbad will be attending for songwriting
  • Lizzy Cameron of Coronado will be attending for songwriting

"Grammy Camp is one of the most immersive summer camps for high school students interested in a career in music," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy and Chair of the Grammy Museum Board, in a press release.

"The program gives young people the opportunity to study with music industry professionals -- including some Grammy-winning creators -- and to collaborate with their peers, resulting in a genuine learning experience about life in the music industry," he added.

The Hot Topic Foundation, the Bruno Mars Scholarship Fund, the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Fund and the Recording Academy have all offered funding and support for this Grammy in the Schools program, allowing selected high school students to enjoy a five-day immersive music experience at University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. There, students participate in one of eight music career tracks including Audio Engineering, Electronic Music Production, Music Business, Music Journalism, Songwriting, Video Production & Motion Graphics, Vocal Performance and Instrumental Performance.

We're proud of our young, local talent, so wish them well before they make the short trek north this week!
