Yappetizers and Wine Make for a Yappy Time

North county dog groomer hosts get-together for dog lovers

A night of great "yappetizers" and wine is being offered up Thursday at Dirty Dogs, a dog groomer and pet supply store in Torrey Hills Center.

"People come with their dogs, there's music and food and wine for $5 a glass, " manager Elias Btesh said. The last two events were so successful, there were over 60 dogs and more than a hundred people over a three hour period, he adds.

Dirty Dogs (Scrub, Grub and Meow) was dreamed up by Btesh's 13-year-old brother Joel who said the area needed a place where people could bring their pets and give them a bath, get them groomed and find natural dog and cat products.

"Yappetizers and Wine" which is held between 6-9 p.m. is an evening of socializing among dog owners or  people who are interested in buying a pet and need information on care and ownership.

Dirty Dogs will offer a 10-percent discount during the event. There will also be specials offered by Pick Up Stix and Daphne's, Starbucks, and Joey's.Merrick pet foods is also among the sponsors. Honest Kitchen which provides natural human grade pet products will hold a contest for the dogs who "can sit the fastest", says Btesh.

Btesh says there are 3 dogs in his family, one chihuahua, a yellow Lab and a chocolate Lab puppy. Dirty Dogs is offering a new pet sitting service called The Dirty Dog and Meow Watch.
