Who Hits 50 to Stop in San Diego

The band the Who will make a local stop in September 2015

The legendary British rock outfit the Who announced a San Diego stop on their 2015 tour on Wednesday. Singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist/vocalist Pete Townshend and their tour mates will call San Diego home for one night on Sept. 14, 2015.
The Who are scheduled to perform a dozen shows in Britain and England in late November and December as part of the Who Hits 50 Tour but will cross the pond for 20 shows in America in the spring, starting in Tampa, Florida, on April 15. The band will take a breather from May 30, when they play Forest Hills, New York, until they kick off the fall leg in San Diego at the Valley View Casino Center.
The iconic creators of such hits as "Baba O’Reilly," "Who Are You" and "Won’t Get Fooled Again" will be playing shows featuring music from their entire career, according to a news release issued on Wednesday, including music from the birth of band as the High Numbers as well as tracks from the Who’s "Tommy," "Quadrophenia" and "Who’s Next."
As is the case for many major cities in the U.S., the Who have played San Diego multiple times. The band last made a stop in San Diego on the Quadrophenia Tour in early 2013, also at the Valley View Casino Center.
While it’s not yet known how much people will have to part with to see the Who, floor seats for their last show of 2014, in London’s O2 Arena on Dec. 18, cost 75 pounds – that’s a little over $120 -- not counting fees, of course. Fans will be able to buy tickets at thewho.com starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17.
