Make the trek up to Orange County this weekend to take part in the Newport Beach Film Festival, a week-long celebration of 350 independent films and lavish O.C. after-parties. The festival kicked off last night with a screening of ‘East Fifth Bliss’, a comedy starring Michael C. Hall and Peter Fonda, followed by a swanky celebrity-studded gala. Don’t fret if you missed the festivities, because this weekend is jam-packed with films and parties, and you're invited.
Because this film fest is in active Orange County, expect plenty of eco spotlights and action sports films in addition to the usual comedy and drama offerings. We recommend catching the three-film mash-up 'Global Action Sports Shorts' on Saturday, and international surf flick 'Castles In The Sky' on Sunday. On Saturday night, 944 Magazine is also hosting an action sports after-party at SportsClub LA-Irvine, with a hosted bar by Absolut and Stella Artois. Tickets are $40 for one film and gala, or $25 for just the party. The Costa Mesa festival runs through Thursday, May 5.
