Victim IDd in Deadly Hit-and-Run

The driver turned herself in after seeing reports of the crash on TV

A man killed in a hit and run accident this week has been identified, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Albert Holman, 34, of Mira Mesa was struck Tuesday around 3 a.m. as he was walking on the shoulder of state route 56 near Black Mountain Road after celebrating his birthday.

A driver reported seeing Holman walking along the highway. Minutes later, another caller reported seeing a person in a fetal position lying in the road. When officers arrived, they found Holman dead in the lanes, apparently hit once by a vehicle driving west on the highway.

The driver fled the accident scene, but CHP officers say Nicoll Koval, 23, turned herself in on Wednesday, after seeing reports of the crash on TV.

Investigators reported that they recovered the car involved in the accident less than a mile from where the man was hit. The car, a 2008 burgundy Nissan Sentra, was being stored in a locked facility as part of the investigation, according to the CHP.

Officers have not yet filed any charges against Koval.
