Try Knott to Get Soaked

Knott's Soak City officially re-opened for the 2010 summer season Saturday.

Inspired by the surf towns of the 50's San Diego coastline, the waterpark has longboards, surf woodies and rides with surfing heritage names like Imperial Run and Sunset River. Not to mention, the park offers 22 water slides, raft rides and children's play areas in a 32-acre water wonderland.  The Balboa Bay wave pool holds 500,000 gallons of synthetic waves.

While the kids play, parents might relax in one of the twenty poolside cabanas available for rent (If you're not completely paranoid about your kid drowning on a Normal 0 132-foot long tunnel that drops 75 feet into a six-story funnel, that is of course.) Located throughout the park, the Soak City Cabanas have lounge chairs, dining tables and include walk-up food service and free tube rentals.

The park is open daily May 29-Sept. 6, and weekends Sept. 11-26. The gates open at 10 a.m.; closing hours vary from 6 to 7 p.m.

Located at 2052 Entertainment Circle, Chula Vista; Soak City offers discounts for seniors and children age 3 through 11.

Tickets cost $31.99 for adults (Southern California residents get a $5 adult discount.); and $19.99, for children (3-11) and seniors; children under three are free. Season passes start at $54.99, but prices will go up June 19. Parking costs $12. Call 619-661-7373 or
