Tijuana Top Cop Fired

The mayor of the border city has fired the city's police chief, according to a published report.

Major Jorge Ramos told Alberto Capella Ibarra to step down Monday, following another bloody weekend. There were dozens of killings in Tijuana on Saturday and Sunday, including the discovery of nine beheaded bodies in a parking lot, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Ramos replaced Iberra with Julian Leyzaola, according to the paper. Leyzaola is a colonel in the military who had been a senior official reporting to Iberra.
