North Park has always been the place to be for the hip kids who aren't into the downtown scene. But this weekend, North Park has got some great events that everyone can love.
This Sunday, start your morning off with the North Park Festival of the Arts. A celebration of creativity, expression and culture a la North Park is a definite good time. Lots of good food will be there and booths will be set up where artists will create their art right before your eyes. Also if you dig live music, there will be four stages of local bands and dance exhibitions on 30th St. and University Ave.
Come on up, anytime from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. for the free festival. This event isn't just for fun either -- all proceeds will benefit North Park Main Street, a nonprofit working to help revitalize the city.
After you have taken in all the art you can take, head due north of University to Ohio St. for City Beat's Festival of Beers. Need I say more?
There's no doubt about it. San Diego has got a ton of great breweries around and more than 20 local and national beer purveyors will be at the festival giving out samples and selling their brews. Tickets are $25 if you buy in advance, $30 on the day of the event.
Ticket purchase comes with five tasters of beer and live music. Everyone likes those things separately, so who doesn't like them together? The festival goes from 12 p.m. (hey its five o'clock somewhere...) to 6 p.m. and all proceeds benefit the San Diego Music Foundation as well as North Park Main Street.
