I'm gonna give you a little inside tip on 'how the sausage is made' (so to speak) for music booking. Most bands you see live and touring belong to just a handful of agencies. Those agencies set tours, they determine how much money they expect a band to make per venue, and then they send those bands out on the road, hoping their estimations pay off. But between the time of booking and the actual date of the show, they track sales. They book a show and it sells out right away, they already start planning the next stop in that city. The shows that don't sell well, or sell late, or get better radio support in other cities kinda stop coming around or skip our city altogether. When I looked at the listings this weekend, I was so impressed at how many shows are sold out, and how many bands have been here before and chose to come back, which tells me that we're coming around again and being engaged and going out and supporting live music. We've been here all along, and we hope to see it get better and better. Teenage Bottlerocket at the Casbah is just about sold out so don't wait till doors tonight to try to get tickets or they'll be gone, and I believe the Damned at House of Blues and Little Feat at Humphreys are sold out or on the brink of selling out. All I can really say about that is maybe you're gonna have to start planning out your shows a little further in advance.
