Sounds Like San Diego: Nov. 7

Lucero, the Paper Kites, Goblin and more stop in San Diego Wednesday

If you've got some angst to work through, tonight's Lucero show with Strand of Oaks and Jonny Fritz at the Observatory North Park should do the trick. Lucero frontman Ben Nichols recently played a solo tour at the Casbah, but the band has certainly outgrown the venue, so it will be a great way to spend a Wednesday night. There are actually lots of ways to either celebrate or mourn election results this hump day: The Paper Kites play the Voodoo Room at House of Blues; the Midnight Pine stop in at Soda Bar; Goblin perform a live score to "Suspiria" at the Irenic followed by a full set of music; and the In-Itself rock the Whistle Stop. Personally, I'll be celebrating the 21st birthday of Jordan Krimston at the Casbah. As a member of Miss New Buddha, Big Bad Buffalo, School of Rock and several other projects over the years, Jordan is one of San Diego's most promising musicians and has been a fervent supporter of local music since he was a tween -- even sitting outside the Casbah during shows he wasn't old enough to see. Tonight, he'll finally be in the doors legally for the entire night. I just might have to buy him a birthday shot.
