I have been looking forward to tonight for months. Maybe it's a little egoccetric to think this show was booked just for me, but that Rocky Votolato's show coincides with my birthday week is pretty awesome. He's celebrating the 10 year anniversary of his release, "Makers," at the Casbah and it has been years since he's toured with a full band, making this an extra special show and also meaning he won't be drowned out by the crowd imbibing on the album's namesake. Meanwhile around town, many are preparing for another CRSSD Fest, so big-name DJs will be all over town with pre-shows and after-parties. Flosstradamus, for example, are at Quartyard to kick off the weekend. At Blonde, Adam Green performs and screens a film, Gringo Star is at Soda Bar, and '90s R&B star Keith Sweat is at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. A special shout-out to local label Volar Records, who are also celebrating an anniversary tonight at Whistle Stop.
