There are so many women in music today. I suppose there always have been, but they've been so marginalized for so long that it feels like there's been this great new awakening. Still outplayed on radio in disturbing ratios, but all we can do is keep supporting these talented ladies and show the music industry that we're listening. If you love the quiet of measured thought, beautiful lyrics, and impeccable artistry, you should head to the Observatory North Park tonight for First Aid Kit. Not to mention, opener Julia Jacklin's latest project, Phantastic Ferniture is incredible and will no doubt be headlining on their own soon enough. Around town, Lincoln Durham brings his revival sound to the Casbah, Boy George and Culture Club return to town with a show at SDSU's Open Air Theatre, and U-God of the Wu-Tang Clan is at Soda Bar.
