The only constant is change, so they say, and I try not to dwell in the past too much, but sometimes I really miss San Diego having a "Triple A" radio station. Falling somewhere between alternative, classic rock, and adult contemporary, it was stations like KPRi and it's earlier iteration of Sets 102 that really broke some artists in the San Diego area. I remember hearing Pete Yorn on the station years ago and was instantly hooked. Of all the touring artists I've ever seen, I've probably seen him at the most shows and the most unusual shows, too. He played the track, the Casbah, big festivals, Rancho Bernardo Winery, La Costa Resort and all kinds of odd venues in between. Tonight, he proves he's earned his stripes with "an evening with" show at the Belly Up, and you can be sure I'll be right up there singing along to the songs that are as familiar as my own heartbeat. Around town, legend Kris Kristofferson plays the Balboa Theatre, Japanese rockers Shonen Knife play the Casbah, and Between the Buried and Me play the Observatory.
