Sounds Like San Diego: Oct. 10

Scottish post-punk group the Twilight Sad make a rare appearance at the Casbah Wednesday

I'm having a hard time writing about the Twilight Sad, the Scottish post-punk band playing at the Casbah tonight, because I was one of the numerous fans devastated by the loss of Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit earlier this year, and the bands are inextricably connected -- particularly because Sad's frontman James Graham did a cover and tribute to Hutchison at the Primavera Festival. It's been a few years since the Twilight Sad have performed in San Diego and it's interesting that their new record won't even drop until January, but that makes tonight's show that much more urgent and a must-see. Of course, it's not the only show in town, so you can also catch Shannon & the Clams at Belly Up, Bar Pink hosts local punks going acoustic, and Anti- Records artist Mothers drop by Soda Bar.
