Sounds Like San Diego: November 9

New Mexico officially calls it quits with a final show at the Casbah Wednesday

While our local election results still pour in, I guess all we can really say is at least it's over. The enchanting Amos Lee plays at Spreckels while Sacramento hip-hop act Death Grips will certainly have a lot to say at the Observatory. The New Mastersounds and Turkuaz play Belly Up for a night of funk and fusion, and FEA (featuring members of Girl In A Coma) play at Til-Two. The big show of the night, however, is local band New Mexico at the Casbah. As New Mexico and Apes of Wrath before that, this band has been a staple in the San Diego music scene for about a decade, and now guitarist Jake Bankhead is packing up and moving across the country with his beautiful wife and adorable children, so the band is officially calling it quits. It's going to be a sad night for San Diego, but expect an awesome show for their farewell.
