Sounds Like San Diego: May 8

There are certain bands and musicians that one looks forward to over and over again. If the Old 97's aren't touring, frontman Rhett Miller is putting out solo records and comes through town alone. Sometimes, he comes with a band. Other times, the Old 97's get the itch to put out another record, in this case, Most Messed Up, and it's brilliant, proving that the band is still at the top of its game by putting out what Salon has called "an instant classic." The band returns to the Belly Up on Thursday, and it just might be the best show of the week. But you never know unless you go. There are still some tickets left, but I'm pretty sure it will sell out before the doors open, so don't wait to grab your tickets.
