Sounds Like San Diego: May 15

Brother Ali brings personal and socially conscious hip-hop to Observatory

It's not often that an artist's profile succinctly tells you the basics, but in this case, "over the past 17 years, Brother Ali has earned wide critical acclaim for his deeply personal, socially conscious and inspiring brand of hip-hop." I know a ton of people who are hyped for this show tonight at the Observatory, and if you need extra incentive, the show is only $5! These days, that's like half a beer! Meanwhile at the Casbah, Hot Chip's Joe Goddard would like you to get to know him and his solo music for a fun Monday dance jam. At Soda Bar, catch LA's post-punk rockers Las Cruxes, whose music alternates from English to Spanish and back again, but has a nice little groove that lets you rock out even if you're not multilingual.
