While many of our friends are in Austin battling crowds to discover the next big thing or catch already famous artists in small showcases, I have to say being left behind isn't so bad. Especially when we have so much good stuff going on here at home. At the Casbah, catch a showcase of our own as four SDMA-nominated bands demonstrate why they're up for awards. Meanwhile, the Observatory will be crowded as fans elbow up for Portugal. The Man, while the Cadillac Three bring rock to the House of Blues. Blonde, Holding Company, Soda Bar, and the Hideout also have pretty amazing shows tonight, but I have to say the one I'm most excited about is Teenage Fanclub at the Belly Up. When I was listening to them years ago, I was too young to ever see them live, so I'll enjoy putting this feather in my cap and finally get to see a band who helped soundtrack my angsty teen years. Just be careful, we've got a big weekend ahead so don't burn all your fuel in one night.
