I can honestly say that I don't think anybody was more heartbroken when the Irenic shut down as a music venue. It didn't make sense and seemed like a mistake, not to mention the void in San Diego that was filled by having a mid-size all ages venue. When Julien Baker played in December, that was the end of it. Then something changed. Perhaps the Board realized that shows there were a no-brainer and they decided to continue operations. Tonight is the first Casbah Presents show there since the change of heart, and with UK's Enter Shikari coming through, the venue is sure to be lit. Around town, Quebecois neo-soul act Busty and the Bass perform at the Casbah, Belly Up hosts its third sold-out night in a row, this time with Herb Alpert & Lani Hall, and super sweet singer/songwriter Ari Hest is back in town with a show at Lestat's.
