I was talking to a friend about music and he said about Australia, "It must be something in the water." I don't know if the land down under just has an elevated music culture, or if it just makes sense statistically that bands that reach American ears are so curated that they're simply amazing -- but whatever the case may be, we have been really lucky to get so many great Aussies to pass through our fair city. Tonight, the Casbah welcomes Alex Lahey for the first time, and she's been called an artist to watch by more than a couple music tastemakers (read the SoundDiego interview with her here). Meanwhile, Jonny Lang returns to the Belly Up, cellist Ben Sollee returns to Soda Bar, and Sacramento's post-hardcore rock band Dance Gavin Dance play the Observatory.
