I'll be telling you about all of the cool New Year's Eve events going on in San Diego on Wednesday, and how to ring in the new year with live music, but the truth is that the real party is on Tuesday. Why? Because all the bars and restaurants you want to go to on NYEare going to be packed with rookies who don't go out very often so they have to get all crazy up in your business when you're just trying to get a drink and have a good time. Tuesday, on the other hand, is a night when all the service professionals -- the ones who will be serving you on New Year's -- are out celebrating the end of their year. Tuesday, you can shake it off with them at the Casbah for a DJ set from Hot Chip or catch Prayers at Soda Bar. The Merrow hosts the last Loudspeaker show of the year, with the Grim Imperials; Surefire Soul Ensemble finish their residency at the Hideout; and the Belly Up welcomes the annual return of Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven. Leave Wednesday for the rookies -- this evening you can really let loose without the crowds or outrageous covers.
