Soon SONIC Will Be One Tank of Gas Away

Got a craving? Forget Hemet. Soon a Sonic fix will be as close as Vista.

A Sonic Drive-In could open in downtown Vista as soon as this summer, a partner in the project told the North County Times.
The Vista City Council approved the building plans Tuesday.

The restaurant would be located at Main Street and South Santa Fe, across the street from the Vista Village shopping center.

The council's approval wasn't a surprise, according to the paper. It had agreed last year to lease the property to the Sonic franchisee. The city expects to get $5.7 million during the first half of the 40-year lease, the paper reports.

From the heart of downtown San Diego, a drive to the new Sonic would take 46 minutes covering 42.25 miles, according to MapQuest. A trip from downtown El Cajon to the new Sonic location is 50 minutes and 46.75 miles, roughly.

Sonic has more than 3,350 fast-food locations in the United States. None, however, is in San Diego County. The closest is in Anaheim, roughly 60 miles away.
