Solana Designer's National Design Nod

Tonight’s CFDA Awards aren’t the only fashion trophies we have on the brain right now. The New York-based Women’s Jewelry Association has nominated Solana Beach-based K. Brunini Jewels for its Awards for Excellence in the category of fine jewelry and watches. It’s no secret that we’re fans of the label’s MO of turning organic shapes — from twigs to vertebrae to DNA — into mega-carat conversation pieces.

“This is the second time we have been nominated, maybe third is the charm,” quips designer Katey Brunini via email to The Feast.

The North County label is up against the Lorraine Schwartz, MaeVona, and Coomi brands. Nominees in other categories include Cartier, Bergdorf Goodman, and Harper’s Bazaar, and gemology movers-and-shakers like Judith Ripka sit on the advisory board. In other words, this is a big, blinging deal.

Winners will be announced at the association’s annual gala on Monday, July 25, in New York.
