A video game promotion could send rapper Snoop Dogg to a college near you.

Snoop Dogg, a Southern California-based icon who has sold tens of millions of albums worldwide, is offering a free concert to the university that collects the most votes in a nationwide online poll.

San Diego State University, the University of California at San Diego, and the University of San Diego are among the laundry list of schools in the running.

The effort is part of a promotion for Bulletstorm, an Electronic Arts game available on the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Prospective voters must first add the “Bulletstorm” application to their Facebook account. They can then vote once a day until Mar. 15 but can acquire extra votes by watching a video game trailer, liking Bulletstorm on Facebook, or buying the video game itself.

Snoop Dogg splashed onto the rap scene in the early 1990s, sparked by his "Doggystyle" album and appearance alongside Dr. Dre in the smash hit "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang."

The artist has since evolved to become as recognized for his movie appearances, dress style, popularizing the suffix "-izzle" and marijuana smoking as the music itself.

His new album called Doggumentary debuts Mar. 29.
