Shopping with a Charger

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates hosted his second annual “Shop with a Charger” event Tuesday at a San Diego Wal-Mart.

Fifty children from the Promises 2 Kids Foundation shopped with Gates, as well as other Chargers teammates.

The private event gave homeless, neglected and abused children from the San Diego Area a night of fun, filled with sports and games. Each child also received a $100 shopping spree.

“Just to see the smiles on these kids’ faces, it’s something that words can’t explain,” said Gates. “To be able to come out here and provide for these kids who are less fortunate, I tell you what that makes my Christmas just that much more fun.”

The event was sponsored by the Antonio Gates Foundation and Wal-Mart.  Through the Polinsky Center, an emergency shelter for abused and neglected kids, Promises 2 Kids provides shelter, protection and support for more than 3,000 children each year.
