The popular CBS comedy series The Big Bang Theory is getting ready to begin its third and certainly not last season on Monday, September 21. The series, which continues to grow in popularity, caters exactly to the Comic-Con crowd with jokes about Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica, Stargate and many other things that some might call “nerdy."
However, when the cast and creators of the show, who held a question and answer session at Comic-Con Friday, were asked if their perception of the word “nerd” changed through making the show, they said that there was no real way to define a “nerd."
“There’s no more sameness in that group than in any other," said executive producer Bill Prady "We are enamored with characters who don’t quite get the mundane things people take for granted.”
One of the most memorable “nerd” moments was when Parsons explained his character's version of Rock, Paper, Scissors which in his opinion should actually be “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock” to decrease the odds of a tie. Obviously. “That scene was harder than any of the science stuff to memorize”, said Parsons.
Parsons was recently nominated for an Emmy and many loyal viewers in Ballroom 20 voiced that they were certain he would win it.
The odd one out in the series, Kaley Cuoco plays the very not nerdy, Penny and said that like her character, “I am genuinely confused most of the time” by all the science, science fiction and fantasy references that the show is known for.
