When I received an e-mail announcing a Limp Bizkit /Ice Cube show at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre, I thought I read it wrong.
Once regarded as destroying alt-rock radio with 1999's "Nookie," nu-metal band Limp Bizkit is back and heading out on the road for the first time in almost a decade. Touring in support of their forthcoming release, Gold Cobra, Limp Bizkit returns with the band's original lineup, consisting of Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto and DJ Lethal. Gold Cobra is the first time the aforementioned lineup has recorded in 10 years. You can preview new tracks on the band’s website.
Hip-hop icon Ice Cube -- replacing Snoop Dogg -- will be joining Limp Bizkit on select dates. The former N.W.A rapper starred in The Longshots, in 2008, which was directed by the Limp Bizkit frontman. Durst recently told MTV.com, "Personally, I feel like a lot of rockers don't necessarily go see the urban artists they like at urban concerts. I think it would be nice to bring the urban artist to the rock place, so they can be in their comfort zone and see some other type of acts."
Limp Bizkit (with Ice Cube) will be "rollin' " into the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre on Aug. 8. Tickets on sale this Saturday, at 10 a.m.
