A local gallery that Jewish gallery that encourages the preservation of Jewish culture and heritage is highlighting recycled art to promote eco-awareness.
Four artists working with recycled and repurposed materials are featured in the exhibit "Reclaim, Rework, Recreate: The Gotthelf Goes Green at the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture at the Lawrence Family Jewish Center.
The show explores the whimsy and creativity of artists Tony Berlant, Liz Mamorsky, Marilyn Mitchell and Jody Silver.
"Becoming more environmentally aware and going 'green' are two concepts that have become a necessity in today's world," said Randy Savarese, chair of the Gotthelf Art Gallery. "This show is an effort to show our support of that philosophy and to encourage the community to think of ways to recycle and conserve resources in our everyday lives."
The art is for sale and proceeds will benefit the Gotthelf Art Gallery.
The exhibit runs through Feb. 25.
