The other original founding member, Captain Sensible, also still plays guitar in the group (he started out playing bass for them, funnily enough).

After their 1977 debut, “Damned Damned Damned,” they released “Music for Pleasure” – which led to the band’s brief hiatus immediately after the album’s poor reviews.

They’re also known for being one of the first gothic rock bands ever – and a major influence on goth culture. Vanian's been wearing vampire-themed costumes on stage for years.

Their first tour featured the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers. Epic! Of course, most of the shows were canceled by promoters or venues before they even happened (only seven shows out of the planned 20 took place), and the Damned were kicked off the tour by the end of it.
