By all accounts, the show was absolutely incredible -- with Cave spending plenty of time out in the audience.

As expected, it was completely sold out. San Diego loves Nick Cave!

The band was on tour in support of their latest album, “Skeleton Key.”

The record was released at the same time as the film “One More Time With Feeling” -- a documentary about the tragic death of Cave’s 15-year-old son, Arthur, in 2015 and the recording of "Skeleton Key."

Recording for the album had actually begun while Cave’s son was still alive -- but was finished after Arthur’s untimely death.

In a trailer for the film, Cave can be seen saying: ““Most of us don’t want to change really. But what happens when an event occurs that is so catastrophic that you just change? You change from a known person to an unknown person. So that when you look at yourself in the mirror, do you recognize the person that you were?”

In the 70s, Cave (often referred to as rock’s “Prince of Darkness”) became a huge influence on the post-punk/goth-rock scene while in the band the Birthday Party. After that group's breakup, Cave formed Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in 1983. He also started the garage-rock group Grinderman in 2006.

The group performed an 18-song set list on June 26 that included a three-song encore. The night started off with “Anthrocene,” “Jesus Alone,” “Magneto,” “Higgs Boson Blues,” “From Her to Eternity,” “Tupelo”… (James Sclavunos pictured)

Those were followed by “Jubilee Street,” “The Ship Song,” “Into My Arms,” “Girl in Amber,” “I Need You,” “Red Right Hand,” “The Mercy Seat,” “Distant Sky,” and “Skeleton Tree.” The encore featured “The Weeping Song,” “Stagger Lee” and “Push the Sky Away.”
