They got their start in Brooklyn, NYC and have released five studio albums to date.

Johnson (pictured) and Schifino met while studying at Pratt Institute. The two began dating and moved in together after three months. After they graduated, Matt started to play keyboard while Kim took on the drums.

Despite never playing music before, they were encouraged by friends and fellow Pratt Institute alumni to start playing shows.

Their self-titled debut album was released in October of 2006, and led to appearances at Lollapalooza and the Siren Music Festival in 2007.

In 2009, they released "Grand" and hit it big with the single "Daylight." The song would go on to be featured in numerous commercials and TV shows.

They also released a controversial music video for the song "Lessons Learned," which depicts them disrobing in NYC's Times Square. It would go to to win the Breakthrough Video Award at the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards.

In 2010, the released their third studio album "Sidewalks," which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart.

They performed at Coachella in 2016 and recorded a four-song EP titled "We Were the Weirdos" in-between the festival's two weekend performances. The band released it during their second weekend set.
