I recently watched an online performance of Olafur Arnalds, and he explained that he'd been in an auto accident and couldn't play music for an extended period of time. Then, while on tour, he found some self-playing pianos and bought a couple that he's learned to program to create the incredibly dense instrumental textures that we hear in his music. Tonight, you can see the Icelandic artist at the Observatory, and I expect that it will be nothing short of amazing.
Casbah and Soda Bar are both sold out, but if you missed the chance to see Mineral last night at the Casbah, you can catch them tonight at the Che Cafe with Tancred, or you can head to Bar Pink to see Parker Gispert of the Whigs. It's going to be a great night of music before nearly the whole city comes to a standstill for the big game tomorrow, so catch your music fix while you can.
