NBC 7 San Diego / KNSD has announced that Greg Bledsoe will co-anchor the station’s weekday newscasts NBC 7 News Today and NBC 7 News Midday, alongside Marianne Kushi.
Bledsoe, who succeeds longtime anchor Jason Austell, assumed his new role on Monday, July 18. He joins a dynamic and enterprising team of journalists that help viewers across San Diego County start their day by providing the latest breaking news, up-to-the-minute weather forecasts and local traffic reports.
“Greg has worked really hard to sharpen his skills as a journalist since he joined our station more than 15 years ago,” said Greg Dawson, Vice President of News for NBC 7 San Diego. “He’s advanced his education to become a certified Meteorologist, helped encourage a culture of enterprising journalism in the newsroom, and continuously exhibits the character and professional traits that are akin to nationally-recognized journalists. It has helped him become one of the most well-liked people in our newsroom. I couldn’t be more proud than to see him take this next step.”

Bledsoe, who joined NBC 7 San Diego in 2001, is an award-winning journalist who has held various on-air roles with ascending responsibility since he joined KNSD more than 15 years ago. Most recently, he worked as the station’s weekend news anchor and meteorologist and has also worked as a general assignment reporter. A sixteen-time Emmy award winner for writing, editing, reporting and photography, Bledsoe has also been recognized with multiple national awards from the National Press Photographer's Association (NPPA), including being named the NPPA's Solo Video Journalist of the year in 2011 and 2012.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado's School of Journalism and a certification in Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
