Every year the Holidays on Horton program highlights the story of a patient at Rady Children's Hospital. This year it was Jose Montano, a brave 11 year old boy who spent many months at Rady fighting brain cancer. The Montano family of 8, here with Mickey & Minnie from Disneland Resort, were surprised with special gifts from Disney on Ice and Cavalia, thanks to the Montano's for sharing their story with San Diego.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk: Here is part of the NBC 7 Team: Peacock Pride, on the damp morning of the walk. Rain didn't stop the largest audience the event has ever seen from coming out in what can be described as a sea of pink.

On May 19th NBC 7 San Diego volunteered for the second year at The Miracle League in Del Mar for a day. The Miracle League of San Diego is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children with physical and mental disabilities to develop and achieve their full potential: mentally, socially and physically.

The field's surface is Mondo's Super X, a flat cushioned rubber mat that ensures that children with special needs can safely and successfully play baseball. The field also includes an electronic scoreboard and state-of-the-art PA system that provides Miracle Leaguers a unique "big league" experience.

Whitney Southwick with one of the awesome ML 'Buddies' The Buddies are a huge part of the league, Buddies are paired with one player for the entire season and often develop a very special, rewarding relationship. They provide support and encouragement while ensuring their player’s safety.

The Miracle League of San Diego hosts two baseball seasons every year - a Spring season that runs from March through May and a Fall Season that runs from September through November. Each season consists of eight games, with different teams playing each other every week.

Engel Family Field - in a unique public/non-profit partnership with the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department and with support from our San Diego Padres, Engel Family Field, a Little Padres Park, was opened in 2007 at San Dieguito County Park. Engel Family Field was funded with public and private funds, grants and contributions. It's the first ADA-accessible ball field of its kind in Southern California

WALK MS 2012 in San Diego was BIG success, back to back weekend walks in North County and San Diego resulted in a combined attendence of 8,400 walkers and hundreds of thousands of dollars! NBC 7 San Diego's Steven Luke and Christine Haas were there to emcee the two walks at LEGOLAND and Liberty Station. NBC 7 has been the media partner for Walk MS for over 20 years.

On September 3, 2011, The San Diego Fireman’s Relief Association hosted the 9/11 Memorial Stairclimb at the San Diego Bayfront Hilton. Teams of firefighters and civilians climbed 110 floors (the same number as in the twin towers)in commemoration of the Firefighter's whose lives were lost on that tragic day.
