Night of the Living Dead Feather Moon

DJ Robin Roth of 91x highlights the best shows around SD this weekend

As we gear up for the Gaslamp Quarter Mardi Gras and Hillcrest Fat Tuesday next week, make time for some fun events over the next few days.

Friday features SoundDiego LIVE Platinum edition with Vokab Kompany and Dr. Seahorse at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Club 207. I’m so looking forward to hosting the festivities. Cuckoo Chaos may have called it quits, but out of the ashes comes Deadphones.  See their live-show debut at Soda Bar with Inspired and the Sleep, Emerald Rats and DJ Santino Romeri. Elsewhere, the heavy metal mariachi band Metalachi, and local favorites Geezer and Gloomsday, play at the Casbah; the Creepy Creeps, Octagrape and DJ Claire are at the Whistle Stop; the Downs Family headlines at the Ken Club; Grand Opening Nite 1 of the Hideout (formerly the Void); Blackstone Rangers, Soft Lions and Idyll Wild take over the Che Cafe; at House of Blues, it’s Mike Pinto with Jet West, Reeform and the Room Downstairs; the Citybeat Local Music Issue Party is at the Griffin, with We Are Sirens, Idyll Wild, Ed Ghost Tucker and the Heavy Guilt; and Xenia Rubinos plays an early free set at Bar Pink before Bonkers! Dance Party. At Bang Bang, check out Jon Dadon and Amanda Panda.

Saturday is Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge. DJs Dark Angel and Bloodsport join me in playing the best in dark underground dance music.  Plus, it’s your chance at tickets for two upcoming shows at the Belly Up -- Gary Numan and VNV Nation. Grab more info here. At Bar Pink, it’s the Bicycle Film Fest afterparty, featuring DJ Mike Delgado; Bixel Boys headline at Bang Bang; Moguai hits Bassmnt; Com Truise headlines at the Casbah; and Body High at El Dorado features Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy with Adam Salter, Pleasure Victim and Kanye Asada. On the live-music tip, the Belly Up has Cash’d Out headlining the Johnny Cash Birthday Bash, with River City and special guests Buzz Campbell, Russell Hayden (of Nancarrow), Bruce Zimmerman & Jake Wilson (of Dead Man’s Party); and Evans Kontopulf; Angel Olsen and Cian Nugent play at Soda Bar; G-Eazy takes over SOMA; Grand Opening Nite 2 at the Hideout features Heavy Hawaii; Bat Lords Record Release is at Tower Bar; and Dead Feather Moon, plus Low Volts take over the Griffin.

On Sunday, its the Wailers 30th Anniversary of Legend Tour at the Belly Up, Dave Hause and Northcote play at the Casbahm and you can get your dance on with Club ‘80s at the Ken Club

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
