‘Tis the season for building gingerbread houses.
But this one takes the cake.
It took three months to build this “Gingerbread Mountain Village” out of 300 pounds of gingerbread dough, 400 pounds of sugar icing and 18 pounds of chocolate.
The delicious display, which includes 23 gingerbread houses, was handcrafted by Executive Pastry Chef Franck Riffaud and his team of bakers at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad.
It will be on display in the resort’s lobby until December 26.
The resort offers small, hands on gingerbread decorating classes with Chef Franck. Those classes are booked up, but they’re offering an additional class exclusively for NBC 7 San Diego viewers.
