Although Cold War Kids were headlining yesterday’s FM 94/9 Independence Jam, most fans were more excited for the opening acts, including British garage rock group Band of Skulls. “Guitar tone coming from stage is gnarliest I've heard in a long long time. Loves it,” tweeted one fan during their early set. For many music fans, spending the summer-like Sunday at picturesque Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre was a no-brainer, as this year’s festival featured eight bands playing over seven hours, and tickets were under $40. “Seriously, @fm949sd, my feet hurt from so much $35 awesome,” tweeted one attendee. Along with Band of Skulls, many fans anxiously awaited San Diego's own experimental rock band The Silent Comedy to take the stage, immediately before Cold War Kids were slated to close out the sold-out show. “I keep seeing @_SilentComedy shirts all around the @FM949sd Independence Jam. I like it,” noted one local, while another wrote, “@_SilentComedy killed it.. & The Cold War Kids were so brilliant. I may Have peed a little #mind-blowing.”
