NUMBER 1

What:  Sun God Festival

Location:  UCSD RIMAC Field

Description:
UCSD puts on its 27th Annual Sun God Festival, this year at the RIMAC fields on campus. Hear over 12 bands including Grammy nominated Sara Bareilles and San Diego's Grand Ole Party. Six comedians will tickle your funny bones too, including Saturday Night Live's Horatio Sanz. Pay tribute to the Sun God this Friday, and don’t forget your sunscreen for this day-long music and fun-filled extravaganza.

NUMBER 2

What:  Coronado JazzFest 2009

When:  Saturday May 16

Times:  8 am - 5 pm

Location:  Coronado High School

Description: 
The 12th annual Coronado JazzFest 2009 will be held at Coronado High School. Jazz ensembles from local colleges, high schools and middle schools will compete and participate in clinics conducted by Bill Yeager and the SDSU Alumni Jazz Ensemble. This college jazz ensemble, considered one of the best in the US, will give a special performance at noon. The event is free and open to the public. Call 522-4050 for more info.

What:  16th Annual San Diego Sicilian Festival

When:  Sunday May 17

Times:  10 am - 6 pm

Location:  India Street in Little Italy

Description:
Some of the best food this side of Palermo can be enjoyed at the 16th annual Sicilian Festival on Sunday, May 17, right in the heart of Little Italy on India Street. In addition to the sumptuous Sicilian cuisine, visitors can also enjoy Sicilian and Italian music on four stages. This year's headliner is the nationally acclaimed accordion virtuoso Dick Contino, who joins other Sicilian and Italian musicians and dancers in a joyous salute to the musical heritage of Italy.  Come on down to enjoy some wine and beer while the kids get their faces painted.  Be sure to check out the colorful flag parade at noon!

What:  City Beat Festival of Beers

When:  Sunday May 17

Times:  Noon - 6 pm

Location:  North Park, (Ohio Street just north of University Ave)

Description:
Don’t worry, be hoppy! Over 20 local and national breweries will be on hand, pouring samples of their favorite creations, all for one great price of $25 ($30 day of). Proceeds to Benefit the San Diego Music Foundation and North Park Main Street. Be safe; grab a taxi to this very hoppy event and enjoy suds in the sun this Sunday with City Beat.

What:  North Park Festival of the Arts

When:  Sunday May 17

Times:  10 am - 6 pm

Location:  North Park (University Avenue between 30th and 32nd Street)

Description:
This FREE neighborhood event is an explosion of arts, culture and entertainment that takes place in downtown North Park, along University Avenue between 30th and 32nd Street. Your day will have something for everyone including breathtaking art, live entertainment, scrumptious food, and all types of entertainment. In addition to the amazing works of art, you can also peruse more than 100 specialty booths while enjoying a wide variety of international cuisine, or sit and relax at the food court, where the Beats & Eats Stage showcases an eclectic array of funky fabulous acoustic musicians, singers, poets, storytellers, beat-boxers and more.
