Help Feed the Hungry, That Includes Dogs Too

Celebrity to help Fiesta Del PAWS raise money for desperate pet owners

Animal lover and "Hot Lips" from the iconic tv series M*A*S*H is flying in to  San Diego to help out the desperate pet owners who can barely feed themselves.

Actress Loretta Swit is going to use her star power at Fiesta Del PAWS  which is holding its major fundraiser June 14 to provide food to feed over 400 cats for the month of June.

PAWS helps people by helping them take care of  their pets. "Studies show that people thrive with the help of their pets," says Lynn Pittman, Fiesta organizer.  "Our clients deal with chronic pain and loneliness on a daily basis and their pet is their only companion." PAWS pet owners are low income seniors, the chronically ill and disabled. Many live on $900 a month or less adds Pittman.  PAWS provides food, litter and vet vouchers for their clients. They also walk their pets if needed.

Hard times are hitting people hard and that affects their ability to take care of their pets including feeding them. PAWS helps 500 clients, some of whom own more than one pet. It has a waiting list of 100 people.

Benji, the movie star dog is also offering himself up for auction, well sort of. His owner Joe Camp is a huge supporter of PAWS and is giving a one-on-one opportunity with the popular canine at their ranch in Valley Center to the highest bidder.  The fundraiser is being held on the grands of a 1920's garden estate near Balboa Park. There will be live entertainment , an auction , a Best Dressed Pooch Contest and fabulous food.
