A Velvet Voice

Paula Cole will perform at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation

Grammy Award winner Paula Cole will be performing at The Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation for a one-night only event on Dec 5.

Known for her lush music and poetic lyrics, Cole is an audience favorite whose live shows combine bare-boned intimacy with upbeat pop rhythms.

The single “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” was an instant radio and MTV hit, reaching No. 8 on Billboard’s pop chart. Cole’s next single, “I Don’t Want to Wait,” was used as the theme song for the show “Dawson’s Creek” and became and international hit.

The following year Cole won a Grammy for “Best New Artist” and was the first woman nominated for “Producer of the Year.”

Born the daughter of musicians in Rockport, Mass. Cole grew up singing for fun, and performed in school musicals, which projected her toward a scholarship for the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied jazz singing and improvisation.

In recent years, she has reinvented herself as a velvet-voice chanteuse, delighting crowds with her intimate and passionate performances.
