This Sunday, April 17th, Balboa Park is hosting the largest free environmental fairs in the world! The 22nd annual EarthFair features the eARTh Gallery Art show and Children's Earth Parade. Activities for kids include crafts, face painting, and educational activities to promote recycling and sustainability. For more information click here .

UC San Diego is celebrating Earth Day with a full week of events to bring awareness to environmental and sustainability issues. UCSD is launching their Bicycle Commute Challenge, which rewards students who log the most miles and save the most carbon dioxide emissions. Head out to Kimball Park in National City on Saturday, April 23 for “America Going Green”. The day-long event is free to the public and aims to raise awareness about green technology and sustainability practices. GreenFest is SDSU’s week-long Earth Day celebration. Festivities include a recycled art show, an eco friendly fashion show, and film screenings. GreenFest kicks-off on April 18 and concludes on April 22nd with a concert at Viejas Arena. For a full schedule of events click here .

Westfield UTC is honoring Earth Day by donating $4,000 to four local, eco-friendly organizations. Participating organizations include Surfrider Foundation, I Love Clean San Diego, Birch aquarium and ECOLIFE Foundation and people can vote online for which organization they would like to see win the grand prize. Starting at 11am on April 22 there will be entertainment, eco-friendly exhibits and the winning charity will be announced.

On Saturday, April 23 wake up early and run (or walk) the Earth Day 10K. The course begins at Cannon Park and ends at the Carlsbad State Beach Campgrounds. Participants are encouraged to wear green as they take in the beautiful ocean views from the route. Free Plant-A-Tree kits will be provided for all participants. For more information click here .

San Diego County’s 9th Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup is Saturday, April 30. Volunteers are needed for the 75 cleanup sites throughout the county.
